On June 4, 2013, BNSF Logistics LLC--a multi-modal transportation and logistics services provider--named Holland the proud recipient of its 2012 LTL Carrier Excellence Award!
With over 17,000 carriers globally across all modes of transportation, BNSF had many candidates to choose from. BNSF representatives paid a visit to Holland headquarters in Holland, MI recently to present the award personally. Among those present to receive the honor was Holland VP of Sales & Marketing, Jim Ferguson.
"We are proud to be receiving this award from BNSF Logistics," said Jim. Holland professional driver Keith Fielding reaches three million safe miles
Get behind the wheel of your car in San Francisco, turn the key and drive to New York City. Turn around and repeat that trip 1,032 times and do it without a single at-fault accident and you would have driven a total distance of three million miles. That’s the remarkable number of accident-free miles Keith Fielding has driven for Holland.
Fielding has been behind the wheel his entire career. He was already driving when he was 12, and when he turned 18 he got a job driving. At age 21 he qualified as a tractor-trailer driver. After 13 years of accident-free driving, he joined Holland in 1983 and continued to build that record for another 29 years.
"We’re tremendously proud of the safe-driving record Keith has achieved," said Holland president Scott Ware. "Keith and all of our drivers know that we want every shipment to arrive on time, but arriving safely always takes top priority. Constant attention to safety combined with continual focus on top-notch customer service is what helps create the Holland difference that sets up apart from other carriers."
Fielding doesn’t think it takes special talent or skills to achieve a safe-driving record like his.
"Any driver can do it," Fielding said. "You just have to be a bit more patient and more observant. We get the training needed to be safe drivers. When I am behind the wheel, I just keep thinking about staying safe and driving the way we were trained."
"I can’t imagine working anywhere else," Fielding said. "The job gave me the chance to do a lot of things and be with my kids as they grew up. My life has been perfect."

Three Holland professional drivers head to nationals
Truck Driving Competition season is in full swing, and over the past month three Holland drivers have taken first place trophies in state truck driving events and are headed to national competition. On May 4, Holland professional driver, Russell Simpson (Columbus, OH), took on the competition at the 2013 Ohio Truck Driving Championships in Cleveland, OH and walked away with the first place trophy in the 5-axle class.
Meanwhile, in Michigan, two Holland professional drivers from the Grand Rapids service center took home gold of their own. On June 7, Jim Looks won first in the tanker division, while Bruce Renton took first in the straight truck division... and also won the Rookie of the Year Award!
In order to qualify for competitions, drivers must go the full year prior to the event without a single preventable collision. With their wins, these three drivers now qualify to compete at the 2013 National Truck Driving Championships this August in Salt Lake City, UT.
Check out the Holland facebook page. Great photo albums of the state safety competitions and more!
Congratulations to our safety-dedicated drivers, and good luck at Nationals!

Celebrating the employees who make a great company great
"I Am Holland" award-winner, Noreen Sutherland, joined the Holland team in 1979 and has served numerous roles prior to taking her current position as Manager, Corporate Services. Over 34 years, Noreen has worked as OS&D Administrator, Contract Administrator, Executive Administrative Assistant to the President, and more. But the common thread in all her work has been her ability to keep things running smoothly.
Every day is different, but whether overseeing switchboard and mailroom operations, or managing any other procurement-related task, Noreen sets about to give it her all.
"What motivates me to go the extra mile is the drive to make sure things are done right the first time," said Noreen. "If that requires a bit more effort on the front end, so be it. It’s well worth it. It’s one of the ways Holland has built its reputation."
Noreen is just one example of the people and service that make Holland the region-leader in LTL shipping. Schedule your next shipment by calling 1-866-465-5263 or go online to hollandregional.com.
