Holland flexibility keeps assembly lines running

Line down situation? Despite the best planning, it happens. When it happened to David Wheatfield, he turned to Holland.

David is materials manager for Meritor in the Carolinas. Meritor is a global supplier of drivetrain, mobility, braking and aftermarket solutions for commercial vehicle and industrial markets in more than 70 countries. The company operates 14 production facilities.

On the afternoon of Nov. 28, David realized the assembly lines at the plant in Fletcher, NC, would not be running the following morning without a delivery of bearings.

Spartanburg, SC Holland team
At 4 p.m., David called John Watson, service center manager at the Holland facility in Spartanburg, SC, and asked for delivery between midnight and 1 a.m.

John reassured David: "We will make it happen." John had the shipment placed on the back of a linehaul trailer. Holland road driver Robert Black arrived at the plant at 11:10 p.m., unloaded two crates of bearings, and left at 11:25 p.m. The assembly lines at Meritor were humming in the morning.

"John and his team never stop amazing me with the outstanding support of the Carolinas," David said. Meritor's customer was impressed that an LTL company delivered at 11 p.m. "John and his team at Holland deserve all the credit because who else in the LTL world would make this happen at 4 p.m. in the afternoon?"

As David can attest--the answer is Holland. To bring this level of service, responsiveness and flexibility to your supply chain, call us at 866-465-5263 or visit us online today.

Supply Chain Solutions, Inc. presents Holland with Carrier of the Year award

Supply Chain Solutions, Inc., a leading supply chain management and improvement firm, has named Holland its 2012 Carrier of the Year.

Supply Chain Solutions, Inc. presents Holland with Carrier of the Year award
The Supply Chain Solutions award program recognizes exceptional performance and quality. Measures include percentage of business, volume, on-time pickup and delivery performance, technology support, and level of strategic partnership.

"Holland was chosen for their willingness to engage in a major improvement project to benefit both our companies. Together we developed new procedures to drive improvement for us and for our customers," said Les Brand, chief executive officer for Supply Chain Solutions.

"Along with providing phenomenal service, Holland is more of a partner than a vendor," added Lee Payne, director of transportation solutions for Supply Chain Solutions.

The company praised the contributions of Holland employees: Victor Perkins, area sales manager; Frank Harley and Chris Emmert, account executives; Merry DeBoer, revenue management supervisor and Nicole Newton, revenue specialist.

"We work hard to understand every customer's supply chain, business, concerns and goals and then apply the services and expertise of Holland to create more value," said Scott Ware, president of Holland.

Holland employees give gift of life in 2012

Every two seconds someone in America needs blood. That blood can only come from a volunteer donor who makes the choice to donate.

Holland employees give gift of life in 2012
Holland employees made the choice to donate during three blood drives in 2012 at the company headquarters in Holland, MI.

The third blood drive was held in early Dec., providing employees with a chance to give hope over the holiday season to accident victims, cancer patients, surgical candidates, children with blood disorders and other patients in need.

Regardless of the time of year, the Red Cross must collect approximately 17,000 blood donations every day.

Donating blood is a simple thing to do that makes a big difference in the lives of others. A single donation of whole blood may help to save up to three lives.

Holland is proud to support the American Red Cross in its mission to maintain a safe and stable blood supply.
